The ShakerScope
Many essential medical instruments rely on a mains or battery powered light source connected to an incandescent bulb. Batteries run out, leak and corrode. Bulbs break and burn out. The use of disposables has a financial and environmental cost.

The ShakerScope is a robust kinetically powered light source which is powered by shaking it up and down.If the charge is not used immediately, the device will store the charge for many weeks until needed. It does not require bulbs or batteries and has a long shelf life. It can be stockpiled for use in emergencies.

The ShakerScope can be used in virtually any medical situation where a bright light source is required for a short period of time for medical examination or intervention
(e.g. laryngoscope for airway, ophthalmoscope for eyes, otoscope for ears).

The ShakerScope is manufactured as a robust sealed unit which makes it resistant to water and dust, and thus well suited to challenging environments
